Following multiple stops due to Covid-19, small ship line Aqua Expeditions has indicated that all five vessels will resume sailing this year.
Aria Amazon and Aqua Nera, the line’s two Amazon river ships, have both resumed service, while Aqua Mekong, which offers river cruises via Vietnam and Cambodia, will begin service on 2nd September. On 15th March, Vietnam reopened its borders to vaccinated international travelers, and Cambodia announced this week that it has eliminated all Covid-19 testing requirements for vaccinated travelers.
Following news that the destination hopes to remove quarantine restrictions for all fully vaccinated visitors by 1st April, Aqua Blu, which offers sailings around Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, and the Spice Islands in Indonesia, will resume private charters in April and FIT (fully inclusive tour) departures in June.
In June, the line’s newest ship, the Aqua Mare, will launch in the Galapagos Islands. The seven-suite superyacht, which can accommodate 16 passengers, will provide seven and fourteen-night cruises throughout the volcanic Pacific Ocean archipelago.
The line’s Chief Executive and Founder Francesco Galli Zugaro said, “Nothing pleases me more to say that all our ships will be operating this year.”
Zugaro teased more Aqua Mare development during a webinar promoting the brand for members of the tourism trade and media.
“For those of you that know me, with my passion and the drive that we have, with the backing and the team that we have, know that I’m not going to sit on my laurels for long before my wheels keep turning to find out when, where and what [is next].
“I’m not going to spill the beans yet. Let’s get these five ships back into full operation this year, as we have multiple years of backlog of guests that want to travel, and then start delving into [expansion].”
