The UK Foreign Office has announced that fully vaccinated visitors to Mauritius are no longer need to complete a pre-arrival Covid-19 test.
Fully jabbed visitors no longer need to submit a negative PCR test done within 72 hours after departure, thanks to a modification announced on Saturday (12th March).
They will, however, be forced to take a Covid test when they arrive.
The FCDO announced in a statement: “From 12 March 2022, travellers do not need to present a negative PCR test before flying to Mauritius.
“Health or travel insurance covering Covid-19 related expenses is mandatory. You will be asked to present proof of your health or travel insurance before boarding and on arrival. Covid-19 testing will be required on arrival.”
The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority’s director, Arvind Bundhun, projected that the island’s tourism numbers would continue to rise as demand for travel to the area “now ramps up.”
“We are delighted that the Ministry of Health and Wellness has reviewed the sanitary protocol for visitors to Mauritius,” he added.
“Automatically this renders experience of travelling to Mauritius far easier and more streamlined.”
