According to an Indonesian minister, the country wants to lift quarantine restrictions for all fully vaccinated travelers by 1st April.
Luhut Pandjaitan, a minister in charge of the Covid response in the resorts of Java and Bali, said at a press conference that if a pilot in Bali went well, the limits will be lifted across the country.
Fully vaccinated travelers can now escape the mandatory three-day quarantine, however, they must still stay on the island for four days under the pilot, which began on Monday (7th March).
Last October, Bali opened to foreign tourists, but a three-day quarantine and other restrictions remained in place, limiting demand.
According to Reuters, Bali received 6.2 million visitors in 2019, and tourism accounts for 50% of the island’s income.
