The Italian government is considering eliminating the obligation for fully vaccinated travelers traveling from outside the EU to undergo pre-departure Covid-19 testing.
From Tuesday, 1st March, fully-jabbed British visitors will be able to enter the country without having to present proof of a negative test. It comes as the government prepares to remove its Covid-related state of emergency, according to The Independent.
Unvaccinated travelers, on the other hand, must present either a negative antigen test done up to 24 hours prior to departure or a negative PCR test performed up to 48 hours prior to departure in order to gain entry.
Roberto Speranza, Italy’s health minister, remarked last week: “From 1 March, for arrivals from all non-European countries, the same rules will be in force as already provided for European countries.
“One of the conditions of the green pass will be sufficient for entry into Italy: vaccination certificate, recovery certificate, or negative test.”
The NHS Covid Pass from the United Kingdom will be recognised as proof of vaccination, and all passengers above the age of 18 will be required to fill out Italy’s passenger location form.
