The outstretched arms of the Burj al Arab holiday resort in Dubai wait to welcome all who enter. I could feel the love as I walked across the private bridge leading to the entrance. This is one of the most unique hotels in the world boasting 7-star luxury and upon first glance; I could certainly see why it proudly holds several Guinness Book records. Its 321m structure is breathtaking making it 14m higher than the Eiffel Tower. Situated 280m from the shores of Dubai; this striking sail-shaped icon shines like a beacon from its own private island.

I carry out a lot of research prior to booking a holiday for my clients and naturally did the same for my own holiday. Unfortunately, I could not get any travel industry discounts for my stay but I did stumble upon the best holiday deal for my budget with a specialist trade-only tour operator specializing in the Middle East- so the research paid off!

I wanted a package holiday with all the glitz and glam and that is exactly what I received. I was escorted to the hotel by Rolls-Royce; the greeting I received was second to none; it made me feel like royalty. 

A member of staff immediately asked if I would like some photos taken and I gratefully lent him my phone. I was then given a personal tour of the main areas in the hotel. Everything was as I imagined but better. 

The online photos do not give this hotel justice. I was surrounded by wall to wall grandeur; the sort of images you have to see for yourself to be believed.

Each and every staff member was forever friendly; helping just seemed to fuel their joy. They were genuinely pleased to see me and I could tell that they truly loved their job which works; they are highly attentive, extremely approachable and really quite charming. 

I never passed one single worker who did not offer a warm smile and a friendly word or two. I checked out some resort reviews prior to booking but I did not believe all the positive comments – I can confirm, they are true. 

My suite was split into two levels; each floor boasting a breath-taking view of the Arabian Gulf courtesy of the ceiling to floor windows. The king-sized bed in the master bedroom granted me the honor of sleeping like a queen and further released that regal side I never knew I had. 

You can expect rest and rejuvenation here; that is why they offer a staggering fourteen different pillows to match each guest’s personal comfort. The other level was equipped with its own private bar and lounge along with a private office which was out of this world. 

A last-minute holiday For a Lifetime of Memories

Every suite has its own private reception along with a host of butlers waiting to accommodate your every need. I didn’t have to think for myself. When I was running low on towels, cool refreshing ones were laid before me. When my eyes felt tired, fresh cucumbers were placed on closed lids, when my sunglasses were a little smeary; a very smartly dressed man cleaned them for me. I didn’t even have the stress of unpacking my holiday clothes; the butler did it for me. 

I was blown away with the many complementary features I received upon arrival with a choice of over 200 newspapers from across the world, a beautiful fruit basket, and a rather nice bottle of wine! I immediately felt at home here…from the pool to the ambiance to the lilt of the gentle harp…everything was a memory to be savored and every room has its own Jacuzzi! 

Dining is an equally unforgettable experience. When you book Burj Al Arab – Dubai you have a choice of ten signature restaurants and a host of many bars throughout. I was spoiled for choice from authentic Arabian cuisine through to Far East Asian and European dishes. My partner and I found a table with spectacular views of the sun sinking below the rim of the world. 

Cooking is carried out with precision accuracy using the crème de la crème of ingredients. The way that each component is carefully crafted stimulates both the mind and the senses. Service is satin-smooth; I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Everything that I could ever want or desire was placed in the palm of my hand. 

We were serenaded by a beautiful singer who resounded through the speakers in real-time; the entire experience was powerful, it literally brought tears to my eyes…you just want days and evenings like this to last forever. After dinner, I was given a rose from the hotel; it was at this point that my heart was too full of joy for words.

They even have their own gold leaf cappuccino; golden hues glint from the coffee cup like fairy dust. A pillow of Grand Cru Guanaja marshmallows rests on a bed of rich, dark espresso coffee laced with delicate gold leaves that are sheltered beneath a dusting of luscious chocolate. Just one sip and heaven was a taste bud away.

With each staff member tending to just six guests, I really did receive VIP treatment and can certainly see why people take advantage of exclusive holiday offers to stay at this; the only seven-star hotel in the world. Everything is played out in a dreamy, secluded setting that stretches onto the golden sand. You can even have your own private beach. When I stepped into the Burge al hotel – Dubai, I left my everyday mundane world behind and basked in heaven for a while. Holidays do not come any better than this.

Later that evening I was invited to a private candlelight dip. The infinity pool was adorned with floating rose petals. As I stepped in, I felt the warm water rise above my ankles and then up to my knees until I was fully immersed and it covered my shoulders. I literally inhaled peace and exhaled happiness. I shut down my thoughts, relaxed and let my worries float away. I could feel the warmth gently unraveling the oldest aches and pains…

Then it was back to my suite after a blissful first day. As I entered my room I noticed how even the décor created a feeling of deep relaxation. I took another long look at the beautiful view and the wide bed that beckoned me to lie down. My head sunk into the deepest pillow and it felt as if a thousand angels were cradling my neck as I slowly nestled into my own little cocoon of safety; feeling pleasantly tired. 

The land of nod was not very far away; the room had darkened leaving two squares of pale light from the open windows, every now and then a little cool air blew and gently brushed my cheek like soft feathers as I drifted off and encountered sweet dreams in heavenly paradise…
