Clia and Qatar Tourism have decided to work together to raise the country’s profile among cruise lines, travel brokers, and other stakeholders.
On 4th November, the company will be one of the key headline sponsors at the Clia Selling Cruise Day, and it will also sponsor the Clia Cruise Forum in December.
Major tourism development is underway as the country prepares to host the Fifa World Cup next year.
Qatar reopened its borders to fully immunized international visitors last month. Qatar welcomed 207,000 cruise tourists to Doha in 2019 and 2020.
The country’s tourism chiefs want to top 207,000 visitors in the 2021-2022 season, which begins in November, thanks to a multi-million-pound redevelopment of the capital city’s port.
Clia UK & Ireland managing director Andy Harmer said: “[Qatar Tourism’s] support for the trade is a clear indication they are looking to build positive cruise momentum.
“We’re all looking forward to seeing ships start visiting the exceptional facilities of the Doha port and its surroundings again.”
