Foreign Office Withdraws Advice Against Non-Essential Travel to Italy

The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Italy, paving the way for Britons to visit the country on the amber list.

On the basis of “the current evaluation of Covid-19 hazards,” it said it had withdrawn its advice against non-essential travel to the nation.

As a result, Brits will have an easier time obtaining travel insurance while planning a late summer vacation.

Travelers above the age of five from the United Kingdom must, however, submit a negative Covid-19 test within 48 hours after departure and self-isolate for five days after arrival.

This required isolation is in effect until the end of August for UK tourists.

Last month, Italian health minister Roberto Speranza extended it.

Around four million British citizens visit Italy each year, according to the Foreign Office.

Forest fires are currently a threat in Calabria and Sicily, and the summer weather is projected to last for the next few days, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius.
