IATA’s travel pass will be trialled by Singapore Airlines for the first time on a London flight. The airline will commence a trial on a flight to London on 15th March 2021 and will run the trial until 28th March 2021. The app will be trialled using Apple’s iOS platform.
To participate in the trial, passengers will have to download the IATA Travel Pass and create their digital ID using their passport information. Seven clinics in Singapore will offer Covid tests that passengers will be able to pre-book. Results will be sent directly to the app. Data will not be stored on a central database.
“If successful, the pilot will pave the way for the integration of the entire digital health verification process into the SingaporeAir mobile app from around mid-2021, again using Iata’s Travel Pass framework,” the carrier said.
JoAnn Tan, Singapore Airlines’ acting senior vice-president, marketing planning, said: “That gives us the confidence that in the second phase, we can further streamline the verification process for eventual integration into SIA’s mobile application.
“This will help to provide a hassle-free digital solution for our customers in the new normal and help to bring about a more seamless travel experience.”
