From 14th May, the Greek authorities will be welcoming UK travellers to the country on the condition that they have been vaccinated, have Covid antibodies or can provide a negative Covid PCR test result. All visitors will also be subject to subject to random testing.
The announcement was made at the ITB Berlin international tourism shown by Harry Theocharis who is the Greek Tourism Minister.
Although entry into the country for a Greece holiday will be permitted by the Greek government from 14th May 2021, the UK government currently has a ban on all international leisure travel until 17th May 2021 at the earliest.
Over 3.5 million British tourists visited Greece in 2019 and there is an international race on by leisure travel dependent economies to attract British travellers back to their countries.
The Greek health authorities are currently updating their Covid protocols and procedures for the coming summer season however the tourism minister confirmed that 80-90% of the protocols for visitors to Greece would remain the same as during summer 2020.
