3 weeks to go until the Seychelles will start welcoming tourists again

On 25th March 2021, the Seychelles will re-open for international tourists. All arrivals must present a negative PCR test which has been taken within the 72 hour period prior to their arrival. Visitors will not be required to quarantine and there will be no restrictions on their movements in the country.

The authorities in the Seychelles have also confirmed that tourists will not be required to complete a minimum stay at a hotel on arrival. All visitors will however have to continue to observe all requirements imposed by the public health bodies such as maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.

Sylvestre Radegonde who is the Foreign affairs and tourism minister in the Seychelles announced the easing of restrictions as a consequence of the “aggressive vaccination campaign”.

He said, “The government has done everything in its power to make sure that the population is protected. We have now arrived at the point where opening our borders further is the next step to allow for our economic recovery. The measures being announced reflect broadly the recommendation of our tourism partners and have been done in full consultation with and the endorsement of our health authorities.”

South African tourists will not be able to enter the Seychelles as part of this easing of restrictions.

The Seychelles remains on the UK Red List of 33 countries from which direct flights are not permitted. Any UK resident arriving from the Seychelles will be required to pay to stay at government designated quarantine hotel on their return to the UK.
