Seattle has celebrated the return of its postponed cruise season, with sailings resuming today, Monday (19th July).
Before the end of October, there will be 84 return voyages to Alaska, with departures every day except Wednesdays.
The Ovation of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas from Royal Caribbean Cruise Line were the first cruise ships to dock in the city’s port in 18 months.
The Serenade of the Seas, with a seven-day Alaska itinerary, will be the first passenger ship to sail today.
The port will welcome ships from Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruises, and Silversea Cruises before the end of July.
Patti Denny, the Port of Seattle’s international tourism development manager, stated: “Passenger, crew and the port staff safety is of paramount importance for bringing back cruising to and from the city and the huge strides to address this over the past 18 months by the port authorities and our partners have been tremendous.
“We look forward to the safe return of passengers from the UK, Ireland and Europe in 2022 and continuing our work with the travel trade to promote Washington state cruise-and-stay itineraries once border restrictions allow.”
